Understand what WIOA offers

WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) provides FREE job training, career counseling, resume help, interview coaching, and job placement.

Find your nearest American Job Center

American Job Centers are WIOA's free service locations. Walk-ins are welcome.

Visit or call and ask for WIOA enrollment

Tell them you want to enroll in WIOA. Ask specifically about Title I Adult or Dislocated Worker programs.

Complete your skills assessment and intake

You'll do a short assessment to identify your strengths, barriers, and career goals.

Create your Individual Employment Plan (IEP)

Your counselor will help you pick a career track and lay out the training path to get there.

Visit 3 schools and interview people working in your chosen field

Before committing to a training program, tour at least 3 schools that offer your career track. Talk to real people who work in that field — ask about their day, pay, and whether they'd choose it again. This helps you make a confident, informed decision.

Begin approved job training or education

WIOA can pay for certifications, trade school, community college, CDL, coding bootcamp, and more.

Use job placement services to get hired

American Job Centers help you find jobs, prep for interviews, and connect with employers.
